James' First Train Show - 11/29/08

James went to his first train show on Saturday and had a blast. There was a large display setup and he was glued to the glass.

After the show, we went to the Cheesecake Factory. James had more than his fair share of food.

Hudson Valley

Last weekend, we visited the Hudson Valley for the first time in a couple of years. This time, we went with our parents and revisited the Mohonk Mountain House. Mohonk is beautiful and the weather was perfect. We did the Labyrinth and scrambled through the "Squeeze" for a great view of the House from the top. James enjoyed himself in the maze, chasing birds, and playing mini-golf (or rather, stealing flags).

We had a fantastic stay at the Stonegate Bed and Breakfast. We stayed there once before and remembered how delicious breakfast was and had been talking about it for the entire trip. Jane, the hostess, did not disappoint and James thoroughly enjoyed it as well. We can't recommend the place enough.

Jane also recommended the Stonehedge Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is run by a father and son team, both graduates of the CIA, where we had originally wanted to dine but was closed for summer break.

The next day, we visited the grounds of the Vanderbilt Mansion, the highlight of which was James swimming in gravel...literally. Unfortunately, Jeanne wasn't quick enough with the camera but we did get a great family shot and a picture of James touching a tree.

Did we take pictures? You betcha.

To blog or not to blog

Well, it's about time I started a blog. What better way to keep in touch with family and friends. Besides, James is now a year old and I've been terrible at keeping up-to-date with all his wonderful accomplishments.
